U.S. Progress Reports for the Vietnam War, 1967-68. A Study of the HamletEvaluation System and the Enemy Order of Battle

摘要

The thesis of this paper is - as political pressures on the war managersincreased, officially and publicly reported information designed to show progress became increasingly inaccurate. Specifically, methods of data collection and analysis for several key reporting systems were not effective in measuring progress of the war. As a result, the data became less reliable and valid as a means to detect meaningful trends toward a positive outcome of the war.
