摘要

This report describes the preliminary investigation of fuel-oil constituents in the soil and ground water at the Fort Lee Petroleum Training Facility near Petersburg, Virginia. The study, conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Department of Defense, U.S. Army, included installation of 25 ground-water monitoring wells and description of ground-water flow patterns of the shallow-aquifer system underlying the facility. Soil and ground-water samples were collected to determine the concentrations of fuel-oil constituents and to determine the potential for off- site migration of the constituents.
