摘要

A marine bacterium from a copper-containing coating produced copious amounts of extracellular polymer altered the corrosion behavior of copper metal in a seawater/glutamate medium. Electrochemical measurements and surface analyses indicated a five-fold increase in the corrosion rate of copper in the presence of the bacterium. Proposed mechanisms for the enhanced corrosion are discussed. Biofouling, corrosion, biodeterioration, electrochemistry.
