Evaluation of a Miniature Condensation Nucleus Counter for Quantitative Fit Testing.

A miniature Condensation Nucleus Counter (CNC) was evaluated as a possible tool to measure respirator fit factors under field conditions. The factors which make this instrument a good candidate for fit testing under field conditions are that it uses ambient aerosol as the test agent is portable. The mini CNC was compared to and correlated with an existing fit testing instrument in a controlled aerosol atmosphere. It was also used outdoors in an uncontrolled aerosol atmosphere and the results were compared to those obtained in a controlled atmosphere.
