Morphometric Analyses of Recent Channel Changes on the Tanana River in theVicinity of Fairbanks, Alaska

Long-term bank erosion rates and channel changes in a 14-km stretch of the TananaRiver centered on Goose Island were documented using historical aerial photography from 1938 through 1982. The construction effects of a causeway partially blocking the river and the time required to return to equilibrium after construction were studied. Erosion, averaged over the entire study reach, was not significantly different following causeway construction compared to that prior to construction.
