Synergistic Effect of Enhanced Unit Ministry Team - Helping Agent Coordinationand Cooperation

This study proposes that Unit Ministry Teams adopt an aggressive, proactiveinvolvement with other helping agents. The Unit Ministry Team (UMT) is composed of a Chaplain and Chaplain Assistant. Helping agents are the professionals who direct Army Community Service, Family Advocacy, Health Promotion, etc. UMTs who combine efforts with helping agents multiply their ability to serve the Army Family. Regulations governing Chaplain pastoral care are reviewed. The helping agency's governing regulations are carefully studied to determine UMT involvement. The Chaplaincy's work with Army families is misunderstood by soldiers and leaders. This paper instructs leaders and chaplains about full pastoral care to the total Army Family. The use of the pronoun 'he' throughout this paper is intended to refer to all soldiers regardless of sex. Keywords: Military publications. (eg)
