BATBook is an online book and problem solving environment that facilitatesstudents' use of example in a text book and use of their own solutions to previous problems. BATBook contains facilities for working on problems and storing solutions and for reading and searching text and examples within the text. All interaction with the system is recorded. BATBook serves as an experimental tool for studies of the use of examples in learning. BATBook has been used for studies of skill acquisition in the programming domain and can be used in similar fashion for other domains such as statistics, mathematics, or physics.
