The prevention of pollution and environmental degradation is vital to maintaineffective and realistic training areas for Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) activities. This report analyzes the training needs of environmental professionals in the TRADOC work force, outlines a model training program to fill those needs, and evaluates the feasibility of creating such a program. Volume I of this report specifies: (1) the body of environmental professionals to be trained, by background, experience, and responsibilities, (2) the training needs of the work force, and the categories of training to be accomplished under a broad training program, and (3) the conditions and operational constraints that will bear upon a successful environmental training program.
