The common occurrence of chronic Salmonella bacteremia in patients withschistosomiasis prompted us to study the immunologic interactions between Salmonella typhimurium and Schistosoma mansoni. Antisera produced by immunizing rabbits with either S. mansoni worm antigen (SWAP), soluble egg antigen (SEA), or formalin killed S. typhimurium bacteria cross-reacted in an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) utilizing S. typhimurium as a coating antigen.
