Ultraviolet emissions from the earth's ionosphere in the wavelength range 1850 Ato 2070 A are analyzed. Specifically, thirteen Lyman-Birge-Hopfield (LBH) band emissions from molecular nitrogen (N2) and the gamma,delta and epsilon bands of nitric oxide (NO) are modelled with synthetic spectra to determine the atmospheric density of NO. Corrections to the Franck-Condon factors for the LBH emissions and the NO emissions are derived. Column emission rates are determined for N2 and compared with computer models. Vacuum calibration of the MUSTANG ultraviolet spectrograph is presented.
