Kinetics of the Interaction of Azomethane with Low-Energy Electrons on Ag(111)

摘要

Recently, the electron and photon induced chemistry of chemisorbed layers hasreceived special attention by the surface science community. Many of these studies are motivated by the desire to prepare interesting surface intermediates relevant to heterogeneous catalysis and semiconductor industry. In an attempt to prepare surface methyl groups on clean Ag(111), we report here on the electron induced decomposition of azomethane. Azo compounds are promising precursors for the synthesis of important intermediates on metal surfaces. The photon-assisted adsorption of CF3N2CF3 has been studied on Si(111) and SiO and the thermal and photon induced chemistry of azomethane has recently explored on Pd(111).
