摘要

A method is presented for constraining shear velocity estimates that is based ona frequency domain versus offset (or, equivalently, grazing angle). This technique emphasized signal variability as a function of wavenumber and provides a means for estimating shear velocities when no shear phases or converted shear phases are observed. A model study demonstrates the technique, which is then applied to deep-tow multichannel data from the Bermuda Rise. These data support Poisson's of >0.48 within the upper 50 m of sediments on the rise; however, the estimated Poisson's Ratio for a turbidite stringer at approx. 20 m.
