摘要

This final report documents all the experimental work performed by Cooper Power Systems, Cooper Industries, Inc., for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory under the subcontracts 11X28611C and 17X-SB-374V. This research effort required the performance evaluation of three specific insulation systems in common usage by electric power transmission and distribution utilities under stresses imposed by three characteristic impulse waveforms (SFSD) impulses and one representative of lighting, the cumulative effect of multiple shots of each pulse, 60 Hz voltage, and, where appropriate, and mechanical load. The insulation systems evaluated are the cellulose-paper/oil combination typical of power transformer and condenser bushing usage, the cellulose-paper/enamel/oil combination used in distribution transformer construction, and the porcelain/air combination representing transmission and distribution line structural insulation. The impulse waveshapes used in this evaluation are defined in the final report of the first phase of this project.
