Analysis of a Twisting Cassegrain Antenna (Analyse van een Twisting CassegrainAntenne)

This report discusses the modelling of a twisting cassegrain monopulse antenna.The combination of fundamental E.M. field theory and a quasi-optical approach is applied for the analysis of the crosspolar isolation performance of this type of antenna. Assumptions, limitations and features of the model are highlighted. Crosspolar power isolation is calculated as a function of frequency, polarization angle and antenna dimensions. Contour plots and 3-dimensional plots of antenna sum patterns for the crosspolar and the copolar case are also provided. The theory is compared with measurements for a specific twisting cassegrain antenna.
