Tactical Communications Network Modelling and Reliability Analysis: An Overview

This report summarizes a survey of the literature on network reliability problemsthat arise in modeling communication networks and includes brief tutorials on the graph-theoretic concepts. Emphasis is placed on mobile communications in which the underlying network topology is subject to wide variations in the local environment, as opposed to network synthesis and design. The analysis of communication networks is primarily based on mathematical theory of graphs and its development of efficient algorithms to take advantage of parallel or concurrent data processing. The main thrust of graph theory in communications is the notion of the connectivity of the graph and this report concentrates on this subject area.
