Operators Manual for Determining Mole Percent Purity Using IMPURE

This report presents the laboratory procedures and operation of the computerprogram IMPURE, which allows the operator to measure the mole percent purity of Standard Analytical Reference Materials (SARMs). Melting point temperature, freezing point depression and heat of fusion are measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). These data are then used in van't Hoff's equation to determine molar purity. IMPURE was written to control the operation of the DSC and the analyses of the collected data according to American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards.
