Application of Decision Analysis Methods to Source Selection in the United StatesAir Force

This research investigates the efficacy of applying formal decision analysismethods to the selection of the best contractor for defense systems acquisition. Specifically, Multiattribute Utility Theory (MAUT) and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) are applied to source selection within the United States Air Force. The source selection process is described. MAUT and AHP are applied to an actual Air Force source selection case study. We conclude the Air Force source selection process can benefit from the application of decision analysis.
