摘要

The objectives of this investigation were to gain a clearer understanding of thenature of the corrosion products formed on Cu-Ni alloys in sulfide-polluted seawater. In particular, we wanted to identify the chemical and physical conditions under which the various copper sulfide minerals formed adherent and potentially protective films on these alloys. The results presented in this report are preliminary. In fact, it represents more of a status report than a final report because the analyses of the corrosion products are not yet complete. Additional analytical methods made possible by the later contract are only in initial stages.
