Using an Object-Oriented Database Management System to Enhance the Reusability ofClass Definitions

One of the main benefits of object-orientation is reusability which allowsmodules (classes/objects) developed for a previous application to be used again for a new application. A Browser in object-oriented systems is a highly specialized system used in class libraries for viewing, writing, changing, and saving code. However, as the number of classes grows from the hundreds to the thousands to the tens of thousands, the Browser approach is not sufficient. The Class Storage and Retrieval System (CSRS) is a proposed system based on the Computer Aided Prototyping System that aims to overcome the insufficiencies of the Browser approach and therefore to enhance the reusability of classes in object-oriented systems.
