Microstructural Development in a Spray Formed Aluminum-Silicon Carbide BasedMetal Matrix Composite

摘要

Included in this report are the preliminary findings concerning the investigationon the nature of spray formed aluminum-silicon carbide based metal matrix composite. In light of the fact that grain boundary precipitation (both low-angle and high-angle) is of the utmost importance, we have examined the interaction between grain boundaries and the precipitation of plate-like phases in both Al-based, and other alloys. The results of the investigation are included as a preprint for publication in the conference proceeding 'ALUMINUM ALLOYS: Their Physical and Mechanical Properties'.
