Recent Developments of Carbon Fiber in Japan

This article surveys current progress and strides made in the development ofcarbon fiber by Japanese governmental and industrial laboratories during the past three years. The progress is clearly visible from large numbers of cations, patent applications, and fiber products. The carbon fiber production, processing advancements, fiber developments, and future prospects are described briefly in terms of new processing knowledge and novel fiber characteristics.
