Holographic Interferometric Tomography for Reconstructing Flow Fields: A Review

Holographic interferometric tomography can provide instantaneous three-dimensional gross flow fields. To make it practical, however, it needs to resolve some confronting problems that appear in the three major processes, that is, interferogram recording, data reduction, and computational tomographic reconstruction. Recent advances in interferogram acquisition, phase information extraction, and tomographic reconstruction algorithms have greatly minimized these problems, opening a new avenue for practical applications of the technique. Here, a brief summary of the interferometric technique and its recent advances are presented.
