摘要

It is well known that the creep behavior of alumina at elevated temperatures maybe markedly improved by incorporating SiC whiskers into the matrix to form a composite material. Recent experiments demonstrate that the creep properties of SiC whisker-reinforced alumina depend critically on the processing procedure used to fabricate the composite. In this paper, typical creep date for a conventionally processed commercial composite are described and the results are compared with data obtained under similar experimental conditions for a composite produced using dispersion processing.
