The interpretation of the internal energy of formation as it applies tothermodynamics equilibrium calculations of gun propellants is clarified. The enthalpy of formation is compared to values of the internal energy at the standard pressure (0.1 MPa) and references temperature (298.15 K), H deg = DELTaHf, deg, U deg not = f deg, and in most cases, for condensed phases, U deg = H deg.
