Concepts for Integrating the M577 Armored Command Post with Chemically andBiologically Protected Shelter (CBPS)

This document presents the concepts for integrating the M577 Armored Command Post(ACP) with the Chemically and Biologically Protected Shelter (CBPS). The CBPS is being developed to meet a need for a highly mobile, self-contained collective protection system, which can provide a contamination-free working area for medical functions of a Battalion Aid Station (BAS) and Division Clearing Station. The CBPS is currently being designed using the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) as the prime mover with a rigid wall, Lightweight Multipurpose Shelter (LMS) mounted on the back to house the environmental support equipment and CBPS. The M577 would be used in lieu of the HMMWV in heavy divisions. The CBPS/M577 integration effort should be broken into three parts: Vehicle/Shelter Interface, Power Support System, Packaging and Weight. Further investigation into the overpressure, air conditioning and the impact of overloading of the M577 should be done.
