摘要

Japan's science and technology has evolved in such a way that in many fields itis now regarded as being forefront in the world. There is keen interest from overseas in Japan's RD activities, which are also seen as being a very important tool in Japan's fulfillment of its international role. In order for Japan to carry out its international role through RD activities, it must actively accept foreign researchers; Japan must have the same amount of enthusiasm in maintaining research environments in which foreign researchers can pursue ST studies in Japan as it does in sending Japanese researchers overseas.
