Network Adaptability from WMD Disruption and Cascading Failures.

摘要

To combat the rising risk of terrorist threats against our national interest and economic wellbeing - threats such as Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) attacks (which could lead to a domino effect of catastrophic failures of power, energy, telecommunications, satellite, transportation, financial, and other critical infrastructures) - this project has developed novel methods to provide protection in our information and communications networks. Main focus was to prepare the network by accounting for risk of WMD attacks in different parts of the infrastructure, and recover from them. These techniques can be applied to military infrastructure to counteract multiple, correlated, and cascading failures induced by large-scale attacks.
