Fleet Numerical Oceanography Center and Tactical Environmental Support SystemSatellite Retrieval Methods for Scheduled Satellite Upgrades

This report details the software requirements for scheduled DefenseMeteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) environmental satellite sensor upgrades for both the Fleet Numerical Oceanography Center (FNOC) and the Tactical Environmental Support System (TESS). The report describes current and future sensor packages flown on DMSP and NOAA polar orbiting platforms. Planned algorithm philosophies and options for both central site (FNOC) and tactical sites (TESS) are presented and recommendations are made. Hardware modifications required for acquisition of data from scheduled environmental satellite sensor upgrades are not presented in detail in this report....
