This research paper examines policies which concern the present and the future outlook for Japanese Host Nation Support. It looks at the current agreements which are in effect between the U.S. and Japan and examines the total burden Japan is now supporting. To understand the current policies it gives a quick overview of past/historical data and explains how the agreement which is now in effect came about. With a complete understanding of the obligations which the Japanese government has undertaken, it looks at the future perspective. How much is fair for the host notion to support. With current economical and political situations in the world, should host nation support be increased. The primary thrust and perspective being, that other nations should look at what the Government of Japan is providing for host notion support and use that as an example to help in this changing world, Finally, various alternatives are given as suggestions which may assist other nations in the Pacific theater come to better grips with the new world order and equable host notion support.
