The linear quasi-static thermal viscoelastic behavior of a three-dimensionalthick laminated composite cylinder is investigated. The cylinder is loaded with a temperature change; however, thermomechanical coupling effects are neglected. The Correspondence Principle is employed to convert the thermoviscoelastic problem to its corresponding thermoelasticity problem in Laplace Transform space. A closed-form formulation is then developed for each layer, assuming a state of generalized plane strain, to solve for a general solution of the corresponding thermoelastic problem. The Laplace Transformed solution is completed by satisfying boundary conditions at the inner and outer surfaces of the cylinder and continuity conditions between adjacent layers. The solution process is expedited by replacing two undetermined coefficients in the assumed form of the thermoelastic solution with the normal stresses at the inner and outer of the cylinder and satisfying the continuity conditions between adjacent layers. Finally, direct Laplace Transform Inversion is used to yield the quasi-static thermoviscoelastic solution. Viscoelasticity, Thick composite cylinders, Laplace transformation.
