摘要

The first detailed study of surface-induced undulations in a liquid-crystallinepolymer is presented. By examining the non-specular diffuse scattering from a 30-layer film of ferroelectric liquid-crystal polymer it is shown that the layer fluctuations are induced by the roughness of the film/substrate interface. This is in contrast to the case of free-standing films wherein thermal fluctuations play the major role.
