Gaussian Mixture Models for Acoustic Interference

This report discusses the use of Gaussian mixture models to describe the noisegenerated by a nearby ship. The investigation consists of an analysis of selected hydrophone experimental data to determine its statistical characteristics and of simulations of the power variations expected at a hydrophone within the deep sound channel due to the motion of a source relative to the hydrophone.
