Detection of Plasma Clusters within Thin Magnetic Films. Technical FeasibilityStudy

摘要

Our experiments have established novel method of dense plasma domains detectionand visualisation. It was shown that dense plasma domains with enhanced reactivity, PDER, (trapping ions of MeV/nucleon energies) when interacting with a thin film of magnetic garnet, TF-MG, changes drastically its domain structure properties. Magnetic treatment of the films, ensuring the best contrast of the PDER image, is specified and PDER image is shown in the mode of domain dimensions. Different kinds of Farraday's rotation modes are also possible. Comparative analysis of PDER, detected with spots of accelerator implanted D+ ions of different energies and total doses, supported with numerical simulation of the process, allows to define figure of merit physical parameters of the object understudy. It was found that visualised PDER has linear dimension of <1 mm, accompanied by 1 cm long tall of lower density. Detection of D+ ions is limited to the energy range of 1 MeV < E < 2MeV by thickness of front filter and TF-MG thickness. These characteristics are similar to those define by nuclear methods for PDERs observed far from the pinch.
