Theater Missile Defense Targets for Interceptor Test and Evaluation

A well defined, planned, and executed Test and Evaluation (TE) program iscritical to the successful acquisition of Theater Missile Defense (TMD) interceptor and sensor programs. One of the items associated with a credible TE environment, which is continuously being assessed for realism or fidelity, is the target being used to evaluate the interceptor, sensor, and integrated experiment performance. This paper provides a brief backdrop to the description of TMD targets by defining the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) Consolidated Targets Program (CTP) and by organizing targets into threat categories.
