Helicopter Life Substantiation: Review of Some USA and UK Initiatives

Military operators normally undertake programs to substantiate the fatigue livesof life-limited components in their major helicopter fleets. During recent visits to military helicopter representatives in the USA and the UK, the author discussed the motivation and the technical approach adopted by these operators for helicopter component life substantiation. Issues and programs of particular relevance to the Australian Defence Force are examined in this document.
