Grating Light Valves for High Resolution Displays

The Grating Light Valve (GLV) is a micromechanical phase grating that can be usedfor color display applications. Operation is based on electrically controlling the mechanical positions of grating elements to modulate diffraction efficiency. By choosing dimensions of the grating structures carefully, it is possible to produce a digital optical device.
