Reactivity of Bis(Trifluoromethyl) Disulfide Over a 2% Pt/Alumina Catalyst

The preliminary catalytic evaluation of bis(trifluoromethyl) disulfide over a 2Pt/Al2O3 catalyst was investigated to determine its reactivity, the effects of water on catalytic activity, and any significant reaction products. Results indicate that water has little effect on the catalytic effect of disulfide. Results also indicate that by increasing the reaction temperature 50 deg C, the residence time required to achieve the 'no effect' effluent concentration was reduced by more than an order of magnitude. CO2 was the only reaction product identified via on-line GC analysis. Air purification, Catalytic oxidation.
