Fuel Containment of Auxillary Fuel Tanks

This report summarizes activity performed in support of the FAA's FuelContainment research program. A review was made of previously performed pretest analysis and longitudinal test results for a double-wall cylindrical auxiliary fuel tank. A review was made of the Auxiliary Fuel System Installation Advisory Circular. Available data from recent, pertinent transport category airplane accidents and full-scale crash test results were discussed for their relevance to the Fuel Containment research effort.
