Crucial Links for Construction Site Productivity: Real-Time Construction Layoutand As-Built Plans

This report documents the results of a 2-year research and development effort bythe Consortium for Advanced Positioning System (CAPS). As a result of this program, integration of real-time site positioning with three-dimensional computer-aided design has been accomplished and commercialized. This technology achievement will greatly facilitate construction site layout and enable the capture of as-builts as a routine part of the construction process. Integration was achieved with three different site positioning systems: SPSi's proprietary technology RtPM; total stations and global positioning.
