摘要

The Naval Biodynamics Laboratory (NBDL) has a rich history as the principal U. S.Navy enterprise for conducting biomedical research on the effects of mechanical forces, both motion and impact, encountered aboard ships or aircraft on naval personnel. This biomedical research has included investigations of biomechanical, physiological, perceptual, and cognitive fimetions of naval personnel. The University of New Orleans (UNO), located near NBDL and a long-time research partner, has recently established an Advanced Marine Technology Center (AMTC) to perform research, development, testing, and evaluation projects in support of U. S. Navy and commercial maritime interests. Both UNO and NBDL have the objective of collaborating on research projects of mutual interest. To facilitate this collaboration, Battelle has been contracted to identlfy research capabilities, current research and development (RD) programs, and anticipated research needs for commercial and defense interests that might be supported by the to-be-developed NBDL/AMTC.
