Ichon-Seoul Operation. A Lesson in the Design of Operational Maneuver from theSea

The OMFTS concept was developed in response to the focus on littoral warfare andpower projection as called for in '...From the Sea.' As implied in the title, OMFTS is a combination of the Navy's ability to maneuver on the sea combined with the tenets of maneuver warfare. Further, in as much as OMFTS is concerned with the operational level of war, it is also the application of operational art to amphibious warfare. Looking back to the Inchon-Seoul Operation, a highly successful example of the OMFTS concept is demonstrated. The purpose of the case study is to point out the timelessness of operational art as contained in the OMFTS concept. This concept of maritime strategy can enable the Navy to prevail in battle in littoral warfare, now and in the future.
