Fibrin Sealant: Summary of a Conference on Characteristics and Clinical Uses

FlBRN SEALANT, which is composed of purified, virus inactivated human fibrinogen,human thrombin, and, sometimes, added compoflents such as virus inactivated human factor XIII and bovine aprotinin, is available in Europe and Canada as a hemostatic agent. Although clinicians and manufacturers are actively engaged in the development and testing of well-characterized fibrin seal ants in the United States, major issues with respect to licensure are still being resolved.
