摘要

The operation of building and utility systems at many U.S. Army, Europe (USAREUR)installations is controlled and managed by Utility and Energy Monitoring and Control Systems (UEMCS). Commercially available hardware/software direct digital control (DDC) systems exchange data between individual microprocessors within the system using complex, proprietary communication protocols. As a result, different vendors' DDC systems are not normally communications compatible. Firm Neutral Data (FND) transmission is a standard communication protocol developed by the German Government that permits different vendors' DDC hardware to be interfaced with a common front-end computer called a central station. This study demonstrated the use of FND in a multi-vendor UEMCS at the U.S. Army's Karisruhe Military Community, Germany. Two different manufacturers' DDC systems were interfaced to a third manufacturer's central station. The demonstration confirmed that FND can be used to integrate several vendors' DDC systems into a fully functional UEMCS. (MM).
