Leveraging Technology to Reduce the Incidence of Fratricide

As a result of that horrible tragedy, once again, the topic of fratricide orfriendly fire teemed the headlines. The shootdown served as yet another reminder of the lethality of our war-fighting systems. More importantly, it focused attention on the potential frailty of humans in dealing with high technology and split second decisions. This paper will define fratricide and trace it's occurrence since the 18th century. It will document that fratricide is not a recent phenomena, rather an evolution of the problem of positive combat
