摘要

Thermal expansion and molar volume of periclase are important parameters forthermodynamic modeling of the earth's interior. We have critically reviewed the available data and have found wide variations in the literature for MgO lattice parameters at room and high temperatures. At very high temperatures where experimental data is not available, the modified quasi-harmonic model (MQHM) provides a method to estimate high temperature thermal expansion. Our best estimate of the lattice parameter at 0 K is 4.20565 A and at 298 K 4.21154 A.
