Survey of Army Families II: Volume 1 - A Multivariate Analysis of CONUS Results

This report presents an analysis of the Survey of Army Families, 1991. It isbased only on respondents residing CONUS, Hawaii, Alaska, Korea, and Panama; the data on spouses living in Europe are analyzed in a separate report. The number of respondents in this sample is approximately 3,000, consisting of civilian spouses of active duty soldiers. This sample has been weighted in the analysis to reflect the actual rank structure of the Army. The survey covers a variety of topics: Operation Desert Storm (ODS) experience, personal background, housing, transportation, relocation, Army family programs and services, health care, child care, schools, employment, perceptions of the Army and its leadership, and attitudes toward downsizing and retention. The analysis focuses on the contribution of various factors to the respondent's overall satisfaction with Army life, i.e., the evaluation of the quality of life in the Army.
