Application of a Domain Size and Gridding Strategy for the Prediction ofHurricane Storm Surge

Applications of hurricane storm surge modeling concepts are made for thesimulation of hurricanes Camille and Kate. Maximum prediction errors, which are cast in terms of a Richardson error estimate, together with the depth at the location of these errors are used to assess convergence of the computed solution with respect to the grid discretization. Appropriateness of the modeling strategy for prediction of hurricane storm surge is validated and techniques for evaluating model performance are demonstrated.
