This report identifies the specific drugs involved most frequently in drug overdose deaths in the United States from 2011 through 2016. [...] Among drug overdose deaths that mentioned at least one specific drug, the 10 most frequently mentioned drugs during 2011-2016 included fentanyl, heroin, hydrocodone, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, alprazolam, diazepam, cocaine, and methamphetamine.
