The principal assertion of the theory of induced innovation argues that technological change reacts to price movements .to save on those production factors which become relatively more expensive. This hypothesis has been frequently tested in the literature using a variety of methodologies applied to case studies from a wide spectrum of countries, but results have often been less than conclusive thus the Induced Innovation Hypothesis (Im) is not necessarily always accepted.
