German Chemical Companies Increase Foreign Investment

Uncertainties arising from Germany's energy policy are having an impact on German chemical companies: in 2015 investments of German chemical companies in other countries have grown by 17%, almost six times as fast as in Germany (3 %). This is the conclusion reached by topical study undertaken by the credit insurer Euler Hermes. In 2016 the divergence is expected to become even greater, with growth of 1 % in Germany and 9 % abroad. Yet the environment for Germany's third-largest export sector is currently extremely advantageous due to low oil prices and a favourable euro-dollar exchange rate.
